Jegede no longer PDP’s Ondo governorship candidate
INEC, in the evening of Thursday, October 27, named businessman Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the PDP for the election. It also named Alabi Ebenezer Omotayo as his running mate.
The election holds on November 26 and the PDP had produced two governorship candidates with Jegede, a former commissioner for Justice supported by the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
Sources in the state told NAIJ.com that some of the party chieftains loyal to the state governor are already threatening to leave the party if the situation is not immediately rectified.
“As it is now, we are going to meet as soon as possible to determine our next line of action. We cannot imagine supporting a Jimoh Ibrahim when Jegede who has been on ground is not recognised,” one of the party chieftains in the state said asking not to be named.
Asked if Jimoh Ibrahim would agree to an amicable resolution, he simply said: “It is difficult for a desperate man like that to resolve with others. His posters have been flying about and I know this is just the opportunity needed by the likes of Akeredolu and Oke as we draw close to the election.”
