Police open fire on PDP supporters
There was an alleged assault by the police men on the party members where one of the supporters was nursing a supposed gunshot wound on his leg while another is seen bedridden in a hospital bed.
The assault by the police from the footage also shows the police shooting tear gas at the PDP members as well as sounds of bullets in the air.
The police barricaded and allegedly shot at PDP supporters who were on a ‘thank you’ visit to the Rivers house of assembly. The party members claim that while the assult on the supporters ensued the police equally battered and seized the camera of a Channels Television cameraman.
The Speaker, of the River state House of Assembly Adams has criticised the police for the assault on the PDP members.
In other news, businessman Jimoh Ibrahim is to remain the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election scheduled to hold on November 26 in Ondo state. This is because the special panel of the Court of Appeal sitting over the case has adjourned its judgement indefinitely. The decision of the panel, according to The Eagle, follows a suit filed at the Supreme Court by one of the parties to the case. The position of the Court of Appeal panel was revealed on Friday, November 18, by its head, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa.
